Day 1,2 / Ferry and
arrival in Wadi Halfa (Mon/Tuesday)
Leaving Aswan on Monday
afternoon, we head to Wadi Halfa by Ferry Arrival in Wadi Halfa; after
finishing the customs and immigrations formalities proceed via Abri to Soleb;
overnight in a Nubian house or in tents before Soleb. (L,D.)
Day 3
Soleb - Sesebi - Tumbus – Kerma
In the morning visit the
temple of Soleb, a Nubian variation of the large temples of the Pharaohs
reminding the visitor of Luxor temple; afterwards drive to Sesebi, an
outpost of Pharaoh Akhenaten. Then crossing the Nile near Delgo and ca. 30
km drive to the 3. cataract, one of originally six rapids in the Nile. Time
to take photos and go strolling.
Drive to Tumbus. On the way
stop to see the prehistoric rock glyphs in Sebu. See the Egyptian
inscriptions and a statue of Taharka still lying on the ground in Tumbus.
Afterwards drive to Kerma, the capital of the Nubian Kingdom in the 3rd and
2nd millenium B.C. The "Daffufa", extensiv mud brick ruins, are only
slightly younger than the pyramids of Giza; they are probably tombs. Drive
through the small town of Kerma. Tent overnight. (B.L.D.)
Day 4 / Old Dongola
Visit to Old Dongola formerly
the capital of the Christian kingdom of Makuria. Visit to the fortress and
the remains of a cathedral. Tent overnight.(B.L.D)
Day 5 Karima - Gebel
Barkal – Nuri
Drive to Karima to cross the
Nile. Afterwards ascent of Gebel Barkal and visit to the vast temple of Amun
of Napata dating to the 12. century B.C. The temple was the most important
religious center of the Kushite pharaohs. Then on to the necropolis of El
Kurru, 18 km. The subterranean tomb of King Tanwetamani is decorated in the
classical pharaonic style.Afterwards visit to Nuri, a necropolis with
pyramids of the 26. dynasty, among them the pyramid of pharaoh Taharqa; tent

Day 6 Deir Ghazali -
Bayudawüste – Meroe
Visit the monastery of Deir
Ghazali, then drive through the Bayuda desert to Meroe. Visit to the vast
pyramid necropolis – dozens of black pyramids rise from the desert sand.

Day 7 /
Meroe
- Shendi – Musawwarat
In the morning leisurely stay
in Meroe. Afterwards drive to Shendi and on to Musawwarat es Sufra, an
extensive temple area with rare elephant statues.

Day 8 /
Musawarat - Naga - Khartum
After visiting Musawarat
proceed to the ancient temple precinct of Naga , where there is a lion
temple, a temple for Amun and a kiosk of the Roman Period. Afterwards drive
to Khartum. city tour in Khartoum. Visit to the National Museum to see the
relocated temples of Nubia and the frescoes of the early Christian cathedral
at Faras. Afterwards visit the Ethnographic Museum
Drive to Omdurman and visit the tomb of the Mahdi
and the colourful local market Hotel overnight. B,L,D
Day 9 /
Khartoum
– Cairo
After
Breakfast, head for Airport for final departure. B
